Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
