Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that features a number of comforts aside from the casino, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
