Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall betting is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, features 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities accompanying the gambling den, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
